USING THE LIBRARY
Registration
Any resident of Scott County may use the library's services by signing an application card and agreeing to observe the rules and regulations of the library. Children under 18 years of age must have their parent or legal guardian register for them. The child's parent or legal guardian must be with them at all times.
All patrons entitled to borrow books from the library will be given a barcode identification card that must be presented whenever materials are borrowed from the library. If the card is lost, a new card can be provided for a fee of $2.00. Library cards expire four years from the date of issuance and may be renewed.
To register for a library card, one must be a resident of Scott County and must provide a reference for address verification and two proofs of identification--a picture ID from List A and proof of permanent address from List B. Each patron must present his or her own check out card for each transaction.

Loan Period

Books and Periodicals
Loan period of 21 days and may be renewed once for the same period if there are no reserves. May renew by telephone or in person at the library. There is a limit of 100 books and periodicals that one patron may borrow.

Books on CD
Books on CD may be borrowed by adult patrons for 21 days. -
DVDs

A limit of 10 DVDs may be checked out for 14 days. There is a $0.25 per day fine for each overdue DVD.. A $2.00 fine per video will be charged for videos returned in the book drop.

Fines
A $0.25 fine per day is charged for all overdue materials borrowed through Evergreen with a cap of $10.00 per item. A $2.00 fine per item will be charged for DVDs and Books on CD that are returned in the overnight book drop. An overnight media drop is available at the Main Library. Overdue Inter-Library Loan items will result in a $1.00 fine per day per item. No fines will exceed the cost of the item.
Renewals
Books, periodicals, and books on CD may be renewed 2 times for an additional 21 days. This can be done over the phone or in person. DVDs may be renewed 1 time for an additional 14 days.
Losses and Damages
Borrowers will be held responsible for the proper care and safe return of all books and other library materials. A charge will be made to the patron for damage to or for failure to return library materials. Patrons who have fines less than $10 may continue to check out items. Patrons who have fines more than $10 will not be able to check anything out until payment has been made.
A book drop at the Main Street entrance is for the convenience of patrons to return all library materials. Please make sure to put all DVDs and audiobooks in the "Media" slot.

Computers
Patrons must review the Internet and Computer Acceptable Use Form and sign a user agreement before using any of the library's computers or internet services. User agreements are updated annually. All patrons must provide their library card, driver's license, or state I.D. to be held at the desk while the computer is in use. Patrons may only use the computer assigned to them by staff. Time limits may be imposed as needed. Children 15 and under must be accompanied and supervised by their parent or legal guardian at all times.

WiFi
Free wireless access is provided in the building. Patrons must acknowledge that they agree with our internet policies via the web portal before WiFi access will be provided.

Computer Assistance
The library offers one-on-one technological assistance by appointment as well as regular
computer literacy workshops at the Scottsburg branch.

eBooks and Digital Audiobooks
Patrons may check out up to 10 ebooks and digital audiobooks through OverDrive, using their library card number. -
Photo copier
The library has a self-service photo copier which is available to the patron at $0.10 per sheet. Double-sideded photocopies are $0.20 per page. Color photocopies are $0.25 per page, and double-sided color photocopies are $0.50 per page. -
Fax Machine
Patrons may send and receive faxes for $1.00 per page at the desk. -
Microfilm
The library has a microfilm machine. Patrons may print copies for $0.10 per page. -
Inter-Library Loan Service
The library can obtain materials for the patron from other libraries. Late items will result in a late fee of $1.00 per day.

Genealogy Materials
Genealogy materials and rare books on state and local history are available for in-library use. They do not circulate. -
Meeting Rooms
Meeting rooms are available for reservation by application. Please call for more information.

Public Library Access Card (PLAC)
Public Library Access Cards permit loans from other Indiana Public Libraries for an annual fee.
