Registration To register for a library card, one must be a resident of Scott County and must provide a reference for address verification and two proofs of identification--a picture ID and proof of permanent address. Each patron must present his own check out card for each transaction.
Any resident of Scott County may use the library's services by signing an application card and agreeing to observe the rules and regulations of the library. All patrons entitled to borrow books from the library will be given a barcode identification card that must be presented whenever materials are borrowed from the library. If the card is lost, a new card will be ordered upon payment of $3.00. Library cards expire four years from the date of issuance and may be renewed.
A 10 cent per day fine is charged for overdue books, magazines, and records. Videos and audio cassettes are a $1.00 per day overdue charge (NOT to exceed the cost of replacement). A $2.00 fine per video and/or audio cassette will be charged for tapes returned through the book drop.
Losses and Damages
Borrowers will be held responsible for the proper care and safe return of all books and other library materials. A charge will be made to the patron for damage to or for failure to return library materials. Borrowers who have fines or assessments on their cards may not borrow other materials from the library until charges have been paid and the card is clear.
A book drop at the Main Street entrance is for the convenience of patrons to return all library materials except audio, and video tapes. They should not be dropped in the book drop because of the damage to them. Loose coins for the payment of overdue fines should not be placed in the book pockets of books deposited in the book drop.
